Pam Starr has been making some of the best wines in the Napa Valley for over 25 years. In 1997 Pam founded a partnership with Charlie Crocker with the goal of crafting a small production of exquisite wines. The three wines are: the Estate Cabernet Sauvignon "Stone Place", the Estate Cabernet Franc, and the Sauvignon Blanc. A total of only 2400 cases of these wines is made each year.
Pam comments:" Crocker & Starr is an authentic piece of history linked to the past by the property's 140 years of grape growing, and its 1870's stone buildings, but grounded in the future by our use of the most modern best practices in wine making and our understanding of today's entire grape to bottle philosophy. I look forward to building my reputation for perfection with Crocker and Starr wines in the years to come." Come to the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant and taste some of the most rare and celebrated wines and meet the people who make them famous. This is a great opportunity to enjoy delicious wines and chat in an intimate, personal, yet casual atmosphere with the types of artisanal producers from around California and the globe that we love to feature here at the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant.
Winemakers, winery staff and often the winery owners themelves will be here to answer questions and talk about their wines. You can order small bites to complement the wine.
All events are on Wednesdays, 4:30-7:30 pm, unless otherwise stated. Continue to recheck our schedule, as we’re always adding new exciting events to our list. These events are open to everyone, and the only cost is for the flight of the wine. Cost does vary, so please check the schedule. Mark your calendar!
Pick up a bottle of wine from the flight you just tasted or an old favorite. One of the great things about the recent boom in wine is that there are lots of smaller producers with new perspectives. Not bound by the opinions of focus groups or boards of directors, these producers are creating some of the most interesting wines available today. The challenge for these winemakers is that they may not have the advertising or marketing budgets to get their vision to the consumers or on supermarket shelves. Enter the Ferry Plaza Wine Merchant. We are committed to exposing our customers to new and interesting wines that are outstanding examples of grape variety, place and style. Our merchants are always ready to listen to your requests and offer first hand experience with the wines and the way they interact with the foods you may be enjoying...many on our staff are trained chefs and have worked around food and wine for years.
